In today's article, we will see how we can update the title of an item after its creation within a list in SharePoint using Power Automate.
First, you need to have an active M365 subscription and, once logged into the service, select Power Automate from the available apps. In the left column, select templates and find the automate titled "Update the title of SharePoint item when a new item is created." On the screen that appears, select "Continue" to allow all necessary connections.
In the new automate, as you can see, we have only two actions.
The first one, which is the trigger, is of type "when a new item is created." In the site address, enter the address of the site to which the list belongs, and then in the list name, enter the name of the list.
In the next action, which is of type "update item," enter the address of the site to which the list belongs, and then in the list name, enter the name of the list. Click on advanced parameters and in the title, enter the new type of title you want your item to have. Here, I chose to have a prefix before the title.
In the next step, I will save the automate and execute it manually as a test flow.
Then, I go to the list and create a new item.
I return to the automate and see that it has executed successfully without any issues.
If I go to the list, I will see that the name has changed and has added the prefix I had entered as a pattern.
