In today's article, we will see how when a new task is assigned to me in Planner, send an email and create an item in SharePoint List using Power Automate.
First, we need an active M365 subscription. We need to log in to the service and then select Power Automate from the available apps. On the Power Automate homepage, we select automated cloud flow.
In the next step, we need to name our automate, select "when a task is assigned to me" in Planner as the trigger action, and then choose "create."
As I mentioned at the beginning, the trigger action is of type "when a new task is assigned to me" in Planner, where we need to specify the frequency with which my Planner will be checked, as well as the timezone and the start date.
In the next action, which is of type "send an email v2," we need to specify the sender, which in this case is myself as a reminder, as well as a subject for the mail notification. In the body of the mail, we will include some details of the assignment such as the id, planID, bucketID, start date, and due date.
In the next step, we need to select another action of type "create item," where we will select the site hosting our list as well as our list. In the details of the new item, we will enter details from the properties of the planner. The next step is to save the automate.
We will then select "manually trigger flow" for testing.
We go to Planner, create a new item, and assign it to ourselves.
Our automate executes successfully, and as you can see, a new mail arrives containing all the details we mentioned.
And of course, as you can see, a new item has been created in our list with status "new."
